J. Tim Pounders

Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer

Tim was born in Columbus, MS to the late Bro. E.G. Pounders, Jr. and Betty Ruth Hankins Pounders. He has 2 sisters,the late Deborah Weathers, Columbus, MS and Karen Robbins, Thermopolis, WY. Tim graduated from New Hope High School, Columbus, MS and received an AAS degree in Mortuary Science from East Mississippi Community College. Upon graduation, Tim was employed with Higdon Funeral Home, Cullman, AL and later manager of Spry Funeral Home, Sheffield, AL. Tim, his wife Dawn, mother and father founded Lowndes Funeral Home in August 1997. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Mississippi and Alabama.

Tim is married to the former Dawn Pendergrass of Muscle Shoals, AL. They are the parents of 3 sons, Dustin (Erin), Luke(Leah) and Caleb(Karen) and grandparents of 7 grandchildren - Spencer, Elisa Ruth, Libby, John Davis, Lucas, Jr., Lane and Ross Pounders. Tim is a member and Past Master of Columbus Masonic Lodge No. 5, the York Rite Bodies, The Scottish Rite a 32nd degree Mason, the Odd Fellows Lodge and The Chitterling Club.

Dawn Pounders

Co-Owner/ Pre-need Specialist

Dawn is married to Tim Pounders and together with his parents, E.G. & Betty Pounders they founded Lowndes Funeral Home in August 1997. Dawn and Tim are the parents of 3 sons - Dustin (Erin), Luke (Leah) and Caleb (Karen) and the grandparents of 7 grandchildren - Spencer, Elisa Ruth, Libby, John Davis, Lucas, Jr., Lane and Ross Pounders Dawn is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Dawn is a licensed insurance agent being able to write pre-arranged funeral insurance policies.

Caleb R. Pounders

President/Funeral Director/Embalmer

Caleb is a 2006 graduate of New Hope High School Columbus, MS and a 2013 graduate of the Funeral Service Technology program at East Mississippi Community College, Scooba, MS. Caleb was the 2012-2013 President of Sigma Phi Sigma Mu Chapter and received a Freshman Exemplary Student Award for 2012. He received his Funeral Director's license in 2012 and upon his completion of the National Board Examination received his Funeral Director/Embalmer's license in 2013. Caleb is also a Cremationist having received his Crematory Operators License in 2008 and is a licensed insurance agent being able to write pre-arranged funeral insurance policies. He serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the East Mississippi Community College Funeral Service Technology program.

Caleb enjoys spending time with his family, working outdoors and traveling. He is the youngest son of Tim and Dawn Pounders. Caleb married Karen Burnett of Columbus, MS in August 2013, has a daughter, Spencer Pounders and son, Ross Pounders.

Chris Griffith

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Chris joined Lowndes Funeral Home full time in 2022. He graduated from Funeral Service Education at Jefferson State in 2013 where he received the Outstanding Funeral Service Student Award. Chris is currently licensed in Alabama and Mississippi in Funeral Service, as a Crematory Operator, and has the CFSP designation.

Chris lives in the New Hope community with his wife Jeanine and their dog Chong. When away from the funeral home, Chris enjoys spending time with family, doing yardwork, traveling and relaxing at home. He and his wife are active members at Mt. Vernon Church.

Sidney Runnels

Funeral Director/ Crematory Operator

Sidney joined Lowndes Funeral Home in 2019. Sidney is a licensed Funeral Director and Crematory Operator in Mississippi. While pursuing his career in the funeral industry. Sidney has also served in various governmental capacities throughout the state.

Sidney is married to his wife - Mary Jane and lives in Columbus, MS. Sidney is a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus.

Away from the funeral home, Sidney enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and being a special helper to Santa Claus during the Christmas season.

Julie May

Staff Position

Julie joined Lowndes Funeral Home in March 2023 as our administrative assistant.

Julie has been married to Tim May for the past 25 years, and they live in Caledonia, MS. They have 2 children - Sherrie and Dillon.

Away from the funeral home, Julie enjoys spending all her time with her family and friends and taking care of her fur babies - Peanut and Lucy. When she's not busy with family, she has a hobby of thrifting and reselling on Facebook. This is something her and her mom have done over 3 years together.

Linda Leggett

Family Service Representative/ Preneed Specialist

Linda joined Lowndes Funeral Home in 2008. Linda is a licensed insurance agent and assists families with pre-arrangements and aftercare. Linda is mostly known for her many years of working in the local banking industry.

Linda is married to her husband - Jerry and lives in Pickens County, AL. Linda is a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.

Away from the funeral home, Linda enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and going to car shows with her husband.

Michele Mosley

Family Service Representative

Michele joined Lowndes Funeral Home in 2018, working in the office and assisting families with various needs.

Michele is married to her husband - Jeff and lives in Clay County, MS. Together they have 7 children and 1 grandchild.

Away from the funeral home, Michele enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and raising her many animals on her family farm.

Kenny Gardner

Family Service Representative

Kenny joined Lowndes Funeral Home in 2014. While following a passion in the funeral industry, Kenny is mostly known for being a local Pastor and through his gospel singing. Kenny currently serves as Pastor at Columbus Christian Center.

Kenny is married to his wife Deborah and together they have 1 daughter and 2 grandsons.

Away from the funeral home, Kenny enjoys spending time with his family, helping others and raising his animals on his micro-farm.

Tony Hannah

Funeral Director Apprentice / Crematory Operator

Tony Hannah married Jennifer in 2017, together they share 6 children and 11 grandchildren.

Tony is an active member of Mt. Vernon Church and Ducks Unlimited.

He joined our Lowndes Funeral Home family in 2020, is a licensed cremationist and is currently working as a funeral director apprentice. While his passion is in the funeral industry, Tony is widely known in our area for working in the automotive industry.

Away from the funeral home, Tony enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and camping.

Clayton Aldridge

Funeral Director Apprentice / Crematory Operator

Clayton joined Lowndes Funeral Home in 2020 and is currently serving his apprenticeship to become a licensed Funeral Director in Mississippi. Clayton being interested in funeral service for several years has most recently been serving as a fireman with the City of Columbus.

Matt joined Lowndes Funeral Home in 2021. He is currently serving his apprenticeship to become a licensed Funeral Director in Mississippi. While following his calling to help others in the funeral industry, Matt is mostly known for being a local Pastor and working in the insurance industry.

Matt is married to his wife – Ginger and together they have 1 daughter and 1 grandson.

Away from the funeral home, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and is a Mississippi State fan.
